Our History
Set within an ancient farmstead with origins dating back to the 13th century, Cronkley has been part of the Northumbrian landscape for centuries. What began as a small farming settlement evolved over time into the characterful farmstead that remains today.
The landscape changed dramatically with the creation of Derwent Reservoir in 1967, bringing the stunning waterside setting that defines Cronkley today. Surrounded by open countryside, dark skies and far-reaching views, it is now a peaceful place to slow down and reconnect with nature.
